Floating Object brings together four videos of single-channel versions: SPACE X, SPACE X-SIGN, Circular Motion, and Existence/presence: Medium. Ignited by leisurely scenarios and landscapes in everyday life, the imagination of interstellar travel forms the theme of this exhibition. SPACE X-SIGN focuses on the essence of time, which connects to the altered perceptions of old and new objects in SPACE X, whereas Circular Motion and Existence/presence: Medium guide us to sail away from the mundane world. These works constantly employ “objects” as vessels to probe the fabric of time and space, facilitating a perceptual diffusion through the metamorphosis of objects and the superimposition of fields, which embarks on a quest to unravel the tapestry of the spiritual world, exploring the variances and intersections of memory, cognition, and reality across different temporal-spatial dimensions. The messages emanated from various materials, signs, and textures, along with endlessly spiral fantasies derived from our spiritual dimensions, extending into a series of “image games” where the subject “floats” through different temporal-spatial states. This exhibition attempts to evoke the sensation of boarding a virtual capsule at MOCA’s plaza, escaping the chaos of reality, and journeying to a place that no longer exists.
