Thàn-Tuā-Tsînn (“make a fortune”) reveals the helplessness of the younger generations, who are being chased and pressured by reality and financial burdens in Taiwan due to the low salaries. No matter how hard they work, their ideals and dreams are still consumed by reality. In this work, audiences assume the character faced with a big, burdensome loan. The game adopts the format of many classic video games, in which the character needs to get gold coins to make money. One gold coin gives the character NTD 1,120, which refers to a worker’s daily wage of working eight hours a day as the minimum hourly pay will be NTD 140 per hour in Taiwan in 2018 onward. Young people try to make more money to realize their dreams; however, reality dictates that they will never be able to purchase a property on their own if they don’t have financial assistance from their parents or families. What will life become when the dream of making a great success and a big fortune falls apart and turns into a reality of merely “trying to make ends meet”? What else should people pursue instead?
